Open consultation: Enhancing HMRC’s powers: tackling tax advisers facilitating non-compliance

Some tax advisers provide advice that facilitates non-compliance by their clients. This harms the tax system and increases the tax gap, which is estimated to be 4.8% of theoretical tax liabilities or £39.8 billion in absolute terms in the 2022 to 2023 tax year.
